Natural Sources for Vitamins
It is my view that having natural sources for
vitamins is important as natural is always superior to
synthetic, yet that is exactly the kind of vitamins that are sold
today.
Supplement fraud is far reaching and shows
no signs of slowing down.
Let me state my case plainly: You should always opt for natural
over synthetic vitamins.
Synthetic vitamins are not assimilable
by the body. In fact, 90% of most vitamins are lost in the stomach
and never assimilated. Another reason to always
choose natural sources for vitamins is because of the effects it
has upon your health.
Sodium fluoride is probably the perfect example to illustrate
what we're talking about.
Did you know that the fluoride you have in your toothpaste is
sodium fluoride? Sodium fluoride is a byproduct of aluminum
production.
It has been
proven in numerous studies to not only not help prevent tooth
decay, but to actually increase the decay. It is a
toxin, yet when found naturally,
it is actually helpful to our health.
Natural Vitamins & Our Food
In order to be healthy, you need to have natural sources for
vitamins. Most understandably think if they eat a perfect
diet of vegetables, fruits, and grains, which are filled with
natural vitamins, they will be perfectly healthy.
Unfortunately, that's not true. How? In today's modern culture,
where we are living in an electronic soup of microwaves, TV waves,
polluted oceans, waters, and contaminated air, we have to deal with
toxins literally every day. These are not the only reasons,
unfortunately.
It's simply impossible to get the nutrients the body needs from
our foods -- even if we're eating healthy!
We simply need assimilable supplements to
augment our deprived diets. This is not just my opinion. The
following is taken verbatim from a newsletter It will
probably surprise you as much as it did us.
"A recent analysis of a range of staple foods in Canada
including potatoes, tomatoes, bananas, apples, onion, broccoli
etc., was commissioned by The Globe and Mail and CTV news.
The results were predictable to some and a shock to others. Let's
use potatoes as an example. This is what the analysis found: Over
the last 50 years the potato has lost:
- 100% of its Vitamin A
- 57% of its Vitamin C and iron
- 28% of its Calcium
- 50% of its riboflavin
- 18% of its thiamine
Of the seven nutrients analyzed only niacin levels had
increased. The results were similar for all the 25 fruits and
vegetables tested. One of
the worst results was from broccoli in which ALL nutrients had
declined measurably including niacin with Calcium down
63%.
The Globe and Mail and CTV used comparative figures from
government researchers for the years 1951, 1972 and 1999.
What's gone wrong? That' simple to
explain.
Consumer demand for cheaper and ' looking' food has over recent
decades changed traditional farming methods as well as
distribution. A farmer used to rotate his crops to suit his land
and maximized his yields through natural methods and then supplied
his fresh produce to his local market for distribution. Regrettably
that is largely the way of the past.
Now, the emphasis is on production,
appearance, storability and transportability. Nutritional
value of fruits and vegetables is of virtually no concern."
With today's fare of processed foods preferred by many, it's not
surprising that their health slowly diminishes, but not even our
natural sources for vitamins, fruits and vegetables, have lost
their potency.
There are two things you can do to minimize
this problem: eat organic fruits and vegetables. These are
usually more expensive yes, but in the long run are cheaper. Step
two: we recommend you take a pharmaceutical grade quality
supplement that has a multiple synergistic blend of natural
vitamins made from natural sources for vitamins.
How To Choose Quality Natural Vitamins
1. The supplements should be produced at pharmaceutical standard
cGMP registered facilities. Facilities that are GMP registered
comply with the most rigid standards so as to minimize the
possibility of product contaminants.
2. Ensure the supplement manufacturer has a Certificate of
Analysis (COA) on file for review by you the customer thus
confirming the potency of the herbal ingredients listed on the
label.
3. Ideally,
enteric coating is preferred as it is an inert substance that
preserves the integrity of the supplement's ingredients in the
harsh environment of the gastric acids. Good
supplements that are protected go through the upper intestinal wall
but if they're destroyed, which is the case with most vitamin and
mineral supplements, you won't get the therapeutic benefit.
A Quality Source
I've been researching herbal medicine, dietary
supplements, and homeopathic medicine for literally over 25 years.
After extensive research, I believe I've found a company that
actually meets all of the criteria -- they are based in New
Zealand.
I mention New Zealand deliberately as they have
regulations in place that are stricter than the FDA's
requirements.
(This company ships their product all over the
world -- they also have an office in San Diego, California. It only
takes a couple days to receive the product.)
Their multivitamin supplement product has over
80 vitamins, minerals, amino acids,
trace nutrients, and herbal extracts that form a synergistic
complementary blend providing the highest assimilation
possible.
This has saved us money as well. I've been using it
for over a year now and have been very pleased with the
results.
I hope this natural sources for vitamins web page has
been useful to you.
Yours in health,
