Myoplex Shakes Info
Myoplex shakes are bodybuilding drinks that cater to
weight training enthusiasts, bodybuilders, athletes, and other
fitness minded sports persons, but they are now used by many
fitness buffs who don't want to necessarily "get buffed" but by
those who want convenient, easy-to-prepare, nutritious,
meal-replacement shakes.
Needless to say, Myoplex-Shakes and prepared drinks are
definitely one of the most popular dietary supplements in the world
-- certainly in Canada and America.
In 2004, meal replacement powders constitute 35% of a market
size estimated to be around $12 billion dollars.
I've used myoplex
ready to drink products since 1998 and have been pleased with the
results. They come in many forms, powder form to be
added to water or milk in a blender, or with the ever convenient
peel off top option.
It also comes in many different flavors, chocolate cream, peanut
butter, vanilla, strawberry cream, cappuccino, cookies & cream,
orange jubilee, banana cream pie, peaches n' cream, pina colada,
and more. Do myoplex shakes work?
Yes, they do build muscle.
Myoplex ready to drink products are a
precise, scientifically formulated combination of known
muscle-building nutrients like l-glutamine, taurine, whey protein
concentrate, combined with many vitamins and minerals to serve as a
meal replacement tool and as a muscle builder.
Improving muscle strength and size, like every other aspect of
health is not a one-dimensional. Myoplex shakes are one powerful
prong in what should be a multi-pronged attack. For our muscle
building and health improving efforts, we also take creatine. (For
more creatine information, click here.)
Myoplex Shakes: Myoplex Ready to Drink Products
Benefits
Let's talk about some of the benefits of Myoplex shakes.
They are relatively inexpensive for one. Myoplex drinks are sold in
as small quantities as four per pack (for the peel top cans) and in
various 18, 20, 36, and 42 pack boxes -- this keeps costs down and
is what we buy.
Myoplex shakes are
also convenient. Just add water, turn on the blender, and that's
all there is to it.
You can also add other ingredients to augment its nutritional
quality and taste (see our comments on taste in the next section).
Its whey protein concentrate is also something you should be aware
of for it's the best protein for your body, many nutritionists
feel, as it's more absorbable by the body.
Remember, it's not what you eat that's important, it's what's
actually assimilated.
There are some negatives
with Myoplex from a nutrition standpoint. Corn syrup is the
sweetener in myoplex shakes. They also use sucralose, which is
comes from sugar. It also has calcium caseninate, which many decry
as building up too much mucous in the system. It also has as high
as 570 mg of sodium in it as well. Overall though, it is a very
nutritious and healthy product whose benefits outweigh its
negatives.
Side Effects of Myoplex Ready to Drink
Products
Are there side effects
or negatives about Myoplex ready to drink products? To be
quite honest, there are only one we know of from personal
experience. Previous versions used to taste better than current
ones. The chocolate shake used to literally taste like chocolate
cake batter, but then the ingredients were changed. Strawberry
cream has never been one of our personal favorites either.
Quite frankly, when I first drank it,
I thought it tasted more like synthetic bubblegum than
strawberries.
Its taste has improved, however. The vanilla is rather bland but
we add fruit like oranges and bananas to it and that significantly
improves the taste. All of the tastes are not like desert tastes,
but that's not entirely unexpected given it is a formulated sports
nutrition supplement.
Adding your own fruit to the shakes will make them taste
better.
The peel off top versions are an
improvement in taste over the powder versions of Myoplex shakes,
but they are more expensive. General side effects are
relatively unmentioned in research to the best of our knowledge. It
appears to be a very safe supplement when used as recommended. I
could find no data of significant health issues raised due to
myoplex shakes. Again, they
appear to be very safe, but before using any new supplement, you
should first consult with your doctor.
